Reader,
Inanna’s story was buried for thousands of years—but it was not lost.
Her story was written over 5,000 years ago, the first story ever recorded. The daughter of the first King of Sumer, Enheduanna, a high priestess of Inanna, the first known author wrote stories and hymns to Inanna.
In doing so she preserved a record of feminine wisdom that might otherwise have disappeared. She saw the empires coming and knew this wisdom of the Divine Feminine would be essential to humanity in future times.
This story saw and foretold the coming of the patriarchy and provides the antidote.
Inanna’s story was only discovered in the early 20th century and not even widely translated until the 1980s.
This time we are in right now I see as a collective initiation. As I watch things falling apart I am wondering what is emerging and how do we participate?
Her ancient wisdom is emerging again. In a time when we need it most.
For us as individuals and for the collective.
And the deeper I entered Inanna’s story, the more I began to see what it carried: an imprint of the Divine Feminine from a time when the vitality of the Goddess was still fully intact in her full power, mystery, and wholeness.
As I traced her story through time and history I understood the longer story of what happened to that wisdom.
Over thousands of years, the feminine was increasingly diminished, controlled, feared, or pushed out of the dominant cultural story. Our relationship with the feminine, nature, the body, and the mysteries of life became fractured.
So much of what appears in our later cultural myths—the flood, the garden, the apple, the resurrection—originated from Inanna’s story but has been co-opted and corrupted to serve a patriarchal agenda.
Her wisdom went underground.
But it survived.
Inanna gives us a glimpse of what was there before—and perhaps, more importantly, a way back.
I see her as part of a long lineage of feminine wisdom: Inanna, Isis, Lilith, Persephone, Mary Magdalene, and countless others.
Their stories emerged across different cultures and times, yet carry echoes of the same ancient journey: exile, transformation, and return.
For me, Inanna stands at the beginning of this lineage. When I enter her story, I feel I am touching a living thread that has survived thousands of years—and is now asking to be remembered. Not just for women but for all beings and for the earth.
There is so much here that I could spend the rest of my life bringing these teachings into the world.
But wisdom isn’t meant simply to be studied.
It is meant to be lived, embodied, and shared.
And so I begin here—with you.
Inanna’s story offers us a path forward—out of the separation, overdoing, disconnection, and relentless striving that shape so much of modern life, and back toward relationship, embodiment, mystery, and wholeness.
I am so excited to be offering Inanna’s Temple, it is what has grown from all of this—the experience I’ve created to bring these teachings fully to life.
You can learn more about Inanna’s Temple here.
Inanna’s Temple is an immersive weekend devoted to this ancient story, Restoring the Divine Feminine for All Beings, and the journey of descent and return. This is not just for women, it is needed and open to all.
With love,
