Meet Musician and Songstress, Marina

Reader,

Meet Marina

Marina is a Handpan musician, songstress, and Voice Journey® Facilitator whose life has been profoundly transformed by the handpan.

From the moment she first held this beautiful instrument, she knew she had found something she wanted to explore for a lifetime. Since then, Marina has devoted herself to the art of handpan, organizing workshops, gatherings, and retreats throughout New York.

She is also one of the founders of the Handpan NYC Community, a vibrant home for teachers, artists, and enthusiasts to come together through handpan events, workshops, and community gatherings since 2016.

Medicine music has deeply influenced Marina’s musical journey. She weaves her voice into her handpan compositions, drawing inspiration from songs and musical traditions from many different cultures and backgrounds. Her music invites us not simply to listen, but to connect, feel, and discover our own natural expression.

Marina is delighted to bring the art of handpan to the Twin Pond Sanctuary for this special weekend.

Throughout the retreat, she will gently guide us from our very first touch of the instrument into the joy of creating music together as a group. No previous musical experience is needed. Whether you are completely new to handpan or simply curious to explore it more deeply, Marina will meet you exactly where you are.

And the journey doesn't stop with the handpan.

We will also share a Voice Journey®—a somatic exploration of breath, awareness, sound, and voice. This unique practice invites us to connect with the instrument that already lives within each of us: our own voice.

No singing experience is needed. There is nothing to perform and nothing to get “right.” Instead, we’ll explore what becomes possible when we give ourselves permission to listen, feel, sound, and express.

Because each participant will have their own handpan for the entire weekend, space for this intimate retreat is limited.

Come discover what happens when we let go of the idea that we need to be “musical” and simply allow ourselves to play, listen, feel, and create.

Reply here with any questions!

Blessings,
Marie Rose

Inannna's Altar

Reader, Inanna’s story was buried for thousands of years—but it was not lost. Her story was written over 5,000 years ago, the first story ever recorded. The daughter of the first King of Sumer, Enheduanna, a high priestess of Inanna, the first known author wrote stories and hymns to Inanna. In doing so she preserved a record of feminine wisdom that might otherwise have disappeared. She saw the empires coming and knew this wisdom of the Divine Feminine would be essential to humanity in future...

Reader, The longer I spent with Inanna, the more her story revealed to me. I’ve read it more times than I can count, and each time I find something new. In this journey I’ve become a priestess and devotee of Inanna, but more than anything, I am a woman who has walked her journey. Many times over. I know something about losing the life I thought I was supposed to have, losing parts of myself along the way, and discovering that something more true was waiting underneath it all. Inanna’s story...

Reader, Without consciously realizing it, Inanna had been walking with me my entire life, through all the trials and tribulations that shaped who I am. The many descents and returns I’ve experienced throughout my life. While something in her story had always resonated with me it wasn’t until a couple of years ago, as I was approaching my 50th year and my Chiron return, that she came to me in a way that was so direct and profound that I knew my life was about to change in a big way. At the...
