Come play - experience the magical handpan.

Reader,

Have you ever wanted to sing or play music—but worried you’re just not “musical” enough?

I’ve always loved singing and playing music, even though I’ve never considered myself someone with innate musical talent. Over time, I’ve come to realize that my musicality lives more in my ability to feel than in my technical ability.

There is something profoundly opening about connecting with your voice and with sound. It can stir something deep within us—a feeling, a memory, a sense of aliveness—and awaken a connection to ourselves and to something greater.

And yet, even when we long to express ourselves, we can sometimes feel inhibited. We may worry about how we sound, whether we’re doing it “right,” or whether we’re musical enough.

Do you ever feel this way?

If so, I’d love to introduce you to the handpan.

The handpan is a magical, mysterious, and incredibly welcoming instrument. It invites you to play. It doesn’t demand perfection or years of training. It is forgiving, generous, and surprisingly easy to connect with.

You don’t need to know how to read music. You don’t need to consider yourself a musician. You simply need to be curious and willing to listen.

My dear friend Marina Sobol is a gifted handpan musician, songstress, and Voice Journey facilitator based in New York. This fall, she’ll be joining us here at Twin Pond for a special Handpan & Voice Discovery Weekend Retreat.

Throughout the weekend, Marina will guide you in exploring the handpan and your own voice in a supportive, playful, and deeply nourishing environment.

And you won’t need to bring an instrument—we’ll provide the handpans for you.

Imagine spending a weekend:

  • discovering the magic of the handpan
  • playing and learning in a welcoming, judgment-free environment
  • exploring your own voice
  • experiencing deeply relaxing sound baths
  • practicing yoga
  • connecting with nature
  • sharing delicious meals
  • and simply giving yourself permission to play, listen, feel, and express

You may discover that being musical isn’t about having the “right” abilities.

Maybe it’s about having the courage to listen to what’s already inside you—and let it be heard.

If that speaks to you, we’d love to have you join us.

Inannna's Altar

Reader, Inanna’s story was buried for thousands of years—but it was not lost. Her story was written over 5,000 years ago, the first story ever recorded. The daughter of the first King of Sumer, Enheduanna, a high priestess of Inanna, the first known author wrote stories and hymns to Inanna. In doing so she preserved a record of feminine wisdom that might otherwise have disappeared. She saw the empires coming and knew this wisdom of the Divine Feminine would be essential to humanity in future...

Reader, The longer I spent with Inanna, the more her story revealed to me. I’ve read it more times than I can count, and each time I find something new. In this journey I’ve become a priestess and devotee of Inanna, but more than anything, I am a woman who has walked her journey. Many times over. I know something about losing the life I thought I was supposed to have, losing parts of myself along the way, and discovering that something more true was waiting underneath it all. Inanna’s story...

Reader, Without consciously realizing it, Inanna had been walking with me my entire life, through all the trials and tribulations that shaped who I am. The many descents and returns I’ve experienced throughout my life. While something in her story had always resonated with me it wasn’t until a couple of years ago, as I was approaching my 50th year and my Chiron return, that she came to me in a way that was so direct and profound that I knew my life was about to change in a big way. At the...
